London police are asking residents in the city's southeast to lock their cars after 20 thefts from vehicles in just under a month.

Between Nov. 14 and Dec. 12, London police say the area from Commissioners Rd. south to Bradley Avenue and Meadowgate Blvd. east to Jackson Rd. has seen a jump in thefts.

They are generally happening between midnight and 5 a.m. with suspects trying door handles and smashing windows to steal from vehicles.

Some of the items targeted are laptops, GPS units, iPods and wallets, among other things.

Neighbours are also asked to look out for each other and report suspicious activity by calling 911 or 519-661-5670.

Similar thefts are occurring throughout the city, and police are asking everyone to be vigilant.
