A 31-year-old man is facing charges of counselling to commit murder and attempted murder following a police investigation.
The charges against Ahmad Youssef Osman relate to an incident on Jan. 16, 2015.
Police say they stopped a vehicle around 5:45 a.m. after receiving information from a citizen that the occupants were on their way to a home in the area with the intent of murdering a male resident.
The three male occupants were arrested and taken into custody and the vehicle was seized along with two weapons. No one was injured.
Following an investigation by the Major Crimes Section, two of the males were released, while Osman was charged with counselling to commit the offence of assault with a weapon.
After further investigation and consultation with the Crown Attorney for Middlesex County, two additional charges were laid against Osman; counselling to commit murder and attempt murder.
Police say the intended victim and the accused are known to each other, but the incident is 'not domestic,' and there are no other suspects outstanding.
The name of the intended victim is not being released.
Osman was scheduled to appear in court Monday.
