The move to extend overnight street parking to November received a recommendation Monday from the city's Civic Works Committee.
Councillor Jared Zaifman pressed to make the change now -- rather than waiting for a detailed report from the engineering department.
London's regular annual overnight parking exemption runs from Victoria Day weekend to Labour Day.
But by a vote of 4-1 Monday afternoon the Civic Works Committee recommended extending it until November 1st this year.
The seven-week pilot project would evaluate the impact on leaf collection, calculate lost ticket revenue and gauge public reaction.
Last year 6,500 tickets were written during that period with a value of $227,000.
Council will receive additional information from city staff about possible operational impacts before a final decision is made September 1st.
