A 55-year-old man has died following a collision on the Highway 3 bypass just east of Burwell Road in St. Thomas.
Elgin County OPP were called to the scene around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday for reports of a collision with a pedestrian.
According to investigators, a westbound pickup truck struck the St. Thomas man, and he was killed immediately.
Police say he was doing traffic control for a FACCA Inc. construction crew using a boom lift to work on the Burwell Road bridge when he was struck.
Two men in the pickup, the 46-year-old driver and 32-year-old passenger, both from Aylmer, were not injured in the crash.
Police have closed the Highway 3 bypass from First Avenue to Centennial Avenue as they investigate and the Ministry of Labour is also on scene.
The highway was closed for much of the day and motorists were being asked to avoid the area.
The name of the deceased has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
