Nurses at the Huron County Health Unit could strike as of March 2nd if a new contract agreement isn’t reached.

The health unit says a meeting with the Ontario Nurses’ Association is set for Friday.

Medical Officer of Health Dr. Nancy Cameron said in a statement “We’re hoping that we can avoid a strike by continuing to work with the union to resolve the remaining issues.”

She added that plans have been put in place to minimize disruptions and inform the public in case of a strike.

Prenatal education, clinics and home visit services could also be affected by a strike.

If there is a strike, information will be available at huronhealthunit.com, huroncounty.ca or at 1-877-837-6143.
