It’s sizzling hot in south and midwestern Ontario, but officials say relief is on the way.

For a second straight day, Environment Canada has issued a heat alert, as temperatures edge closer to the 40 C mark with the added humidex.

This extreme heat could prove dangerous to older adults, infants, children and those with chronic illness should remain cool and stay hydrated.

The heat warning will remain in effect until Tuesday night, when a cold front is expected to return temperatures to the seasonal average.
