Environmental Defence says it applauds the federal government on announcing the opening of a new Asian carp science lab in Burlington.
The group says increased research, monitoring and testing for the invasive species in Ontario waterways is a step in the right direction to protect the Great Lakes.
It says the threat of an Asian carp invasion in the Great Lakes is very real.
Environment Defence says Asian carp could quickly destroy the ecosystem, along with native fish, if they make it into the Great Lakes.
