Elgin OPP have charged a Norfolk man with numerous offences after a vehicle and foot chase Monday.

Police were responding to a call about a stolen vehicle about 11:30 a.m. and spotted the suspect vehicle on Lakeshore Line near Port Burwell.

Officer used a “rolling block” to try to stop the vehicle, with one police cruiser in front of the suspect vehicle and one police cruiser behind it. 

During the chase, the vehicle had minor contact with the lead police cruiser.

After all vehicles came to a stop the male driver fled on foot to a wooded area. Officer followed but lost sight of him.

A containment area was set and officers spotted the male, catching him after a brief chase that ended in the woods.

The man was taken to hospital with a complaint of a sore hand and foot and was cleared medically.

There were no injuries to anyone else.

A 28-year-old man is charged with:

•          Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle

•          Driving while Disqualified

•          Flight while pursued by a Peace Officer

•          Possession of Property Obtained by crime over $5,000

•          Theft of motor vehicle

•          Driving while ability impaired by drug

•          Driving while under suspension
