Sarnia police have recovered items stolen in separate thefts after one owner managed to track down a suspect.

According to police, two vehicles were broken into Sunday night, one in the 300 block of London Road and the other in the 200 block of Durand Street. Two jackets, a leather satchel containing a MacBook, a GPS, and passport were stolen.

On Monday, the MacBook owner used the “Find my Mac” app and determined the computer was in the area of Murphy Road and Michigan Avenue. He then went to the area and saw a suspect using what he believed to be his computer. Officers responded to the call and arrested the suspect while he returned home.

A 29-year-old Sarnia man has been charged with three counts of possession of stolen property and three counts of possession of stolen identity. Police were able to recover the items from each theft.
