Getting access to south London from Highway 401 will soon be easier.
Transportation Minister Steven Del Duca made an appearance in London on Friday at the Wonderland Road interchange that is currently under construction.
In a statement, Del Duca said, "I am pleased to see that construction of this new interchange is well underway. This is an important project that will create jobs, benefit the local economy for generations and support the significant development and growth of the London area."
The $17.8 million project is being jointly funded by the province and the City of London and will involve the creation of 180 construction jobs.
The final project will create four new ramps and two new bridges and should be complete by the fall of 2015.
This is the first of four Highway 401 interchange projects in the city, with interchanges at Veterans Memorial Parkway, Highbury Avenue and Colonel Talbot Road slated to undergo reconstruction.
