Bruce Power is backing Ottawa's attempts to modernize a 40-year-old act that determines how much nuclear operators could pay in the event of a nuclear accident.
The federal government announced Monday it will raise the nuclear liability ceiling to $1 billion -- up from the present cap of $75 million.
Natural Resources Minister Joe Oliver says the previous limit for civil damages was outdated.
The Bruce nuclear facility -- based in Tiverton near the Lake Huron shore -- says it's looking forward to seeing the new legislation and working with the government.
