A young girl has been released from hospital after a dog bit her on the head.

Grey County OPP officers were dispatched to a residence on Highway 6 in the Township of Southgate on Saturday, around 8 p.m. for a report of a child being bitten by a dog.

Provincial police says a two-year-old girl and her mother was visiting a friend’s house when the family pet, a blind, large mixed-breed dog, bit the child.

The girl was airlifted to a London hospital with a non-life threatening injury to her face. She has since been released.

The Grey Bruce Public Health Unit has been notified.
