Four people including a child were located safe and sound after a boat they were operating failed to return to Turkey Point.

Members of the OPP Norfolk County Marine Unit and the Canadian Coast Guard began searching for the missing persons around 8:50 p.m. Monday night.

According to police four people rented a boat from Turkey Point Powersports around 5:15 p.m. but failed to return to shore within their allotted time.

As a result inshore rescue boats from Long Point and Port Dover worked alongside the Coast Guard’s helicopter from Trenton to locate the vessel and occupants.

At approximately 10:40 p.m. the helicopter observed a flare from the vessel east of Turkey Point. The three adults and child onboard were taken back to Turkey Point Marina having suffered no injuries in the incident.
