The Ministry of Labour is investigating after a worker was injured at Bruce Power.

The company says a worker was injured Monday when some gas became ignited resulting in a serious burn.

The worker was taken to hospital to be treated for burns to his hands and forearm. The injuries are considered serious, but not life threatening.

The burn injury occurred during Unit 8 outage maintenance in the Turbine Hall in Bruce B.

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) says this happened in a non-radiological part of Bruce Power, so there's no danger to the public or the environment as a result.

The Ministry of Labour and CNSC are both investigating.
