Comic book personalities, gamers, nerds and the like filled three floors of Centennial Hall Sunday at the first Forest City Comicon.

While organizers were expecting it to be a success, the numbers in attendance - estimated at 2,000 - were overwhelming.

"There has never been an event of this kind on this scale in London," said organizing committee member John Houghton.

"Support for this event has been incredible."

The conference was billed as a celebration of the nerd culture like no other and included more than 150 tables and displays as well as gaming tournamemts, cosplay contests and panel discussions.

Panel topics included How Gaming Saved My Life, How Not to be a Youtube star and Being a Hero, which discussed how to maintain a persona of good doing and helping in the community.

London Gaming Company Blue Bubble Inc. participated with life-size characters from their top game, My Singing Monsters, which has attracted a crowd.

"It's been non stop today. It's crazy to see how many people are interested and how many people who have come up to us and recognized this game. It's pretty cool," says Blue Bubble's Patrick Leyland.
