The London Taxi Association is asking the city to raise cab fares to help offset rising costs faced by drivers and owners.
In a letter to the city's licencing manager, the association says the last fare increase was in 2008 with just an adjustment for the HST in 2010.
They are asking that the minimum fare or 'flag amount' be raised from $3.50 to $4.50, but are not asking for a change in the per kilometre fee.
The association is hoping the change will take effect by Sept. 1.
London's Community and Protective Services Committee will consider the request on Monday.
