Time to get out the winter jackets and put on the snow tires, there are a snow squall watches and warnings in effect for the London area.
Environment Canada has issued the watch for a large part of southern Ontario, including Sarnia-Lambton, Bruce, Huron, Perth and Dufferin counties.
Late Friday, the watch was upgraded to a warning for London-Middlesex, eastern Lambton, southern Huron, Grey and Dufferin counties.
Snow squalls may develop late Friday night and could continue through Saturday and the forecaster says local snowfall accumulations could reach 15 cm by Saturday afternoon.
The main squalls are expected southeast of Lake Huron from Grand Bend to Strathroy and south of Georgian Bay, extending to the south of Collingwood.
Under the snow squall bands, visibilities could be significantly reduced due to the heavy snow, and snow could quickly accumulate.
For areas immediately along the lakeshore, accumulations are expected be less as temperatures there will be a few degrees warmer due to the relatively warm water of Lake Huron.
Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.
There is also a frost advisory in effect for Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent, Sarnia-western Lambton, Elgin and Norfolk counties.
OPP are reminding drivers that it may be time to get snow tire installed on vehicles and that they should allow for more time to get to their destination.
There's also another issue that is making driving more difficult at this time of year - deer.
Collisions with the animals tend to increase toward the end of October and into the first to weeks of November.
