London police say they are "investigating the possibility" a man wanted in the shooting death of Jeremy Cook is the subject of a missing person investigation in Ottawa.
"We were contacted by Ottawa Police yesterday in relation to our homicide that happened last week. They had interaction with a male that is possibly the suspect we are looking for," says London police Const.Ken Steeves.
Muhab Sultanaly Sultan, 23, is wanted for second degree murder in connection with the June 14 shooting in London's northeast end.
A search is underway in Ottawa for a man who may have drowned after entering the Rideau River on Wednesday night.
Ottawa police say the missing man was in a vehicle with a second person when the vehicle tried to run over two officers on bicycles Wednesday afternoon, leaving one with minor injuries.
A cruiser followed the vehicle to an area near the Rideau River, where the pair tried to flee on foot. One person was arrested while a second escaped custody.
Police were reportedly called to the river several hours later when the man who fled was seen trying to swim across. Police entered the water but the man went under before they could reach him.
"We are not 100 per cent certain that the individual that went into the water is our suspect, but they have reason to believe that he is possibly him," adds Steeves.
The Special Investigations Unit has also been called in for the case.
