Provincial police have identified the deceased in a fatal collision between a VIA Rail train and a vehicle, southwest of London.
Sheila Bendall, 64, of Southwest Middlesex was pronounced dead at the scene on Friday, after her vehicle collided with the westbound train and ejected her from the car.
OPP says Bendall was travelling southbound on Melbourne Road around 2:55 p.m. when the collision happened.
Debris from the crash was scattered along the tracks, and the car came to rest in a ditch about 60 metres from the crash scene.
None of the 155 passengers aboard the train were injured and the train was eventually able to continue to its destination.
The crossing is controlled by flashing lights, and the signals on the north side of the crossing were damaged in the crash, but have since been repaired.
Melbourne between Glendon Drive and Parkhouse Drive was closed while police conducted their investigation. It has since re-opened.
