Perth County OPP are investigating after a crash between a tractor trailer and a pickup truck south of Teviotdale.

The serious two-vehicle collision took place around 8:20 a.m. at the intersection of Perth Road 140 and Perth Line 90.

Initial investigation revealed that a tractor trailer was travelling southbound on Perth Road 140 at Perth Line 90, when it was struck within the intersection by a pickup truck travelling eastbound on Perth Line 90.

Police say the impact caused extensive damage to the pickup truck and resulted in the driver of the tractor trailer to lose control of the vehicle.

The tractor trailer flipped on its side and came to rest south of the intersection, blocking both the northbound and southbound lanes of traffic of Perth Road 140.

The driver of the pickup truck has been transported by air ambulance to a London Hospital with major injuries.  The driver of the transport truck did not sustain injuries.

Police say the tractor trailer, loaded with non-hazardous materials, may need to be unloaded before it can be removed from the roadway.

As a result, Perth Road 140 is expected to remain closed for most of the day.

Motorists are urged to find alternate routes around the collision location.
