A 76-year-old Owen Sound man has died after being pulled from a backyard pool in the city's west end, late Tuesday afternoon.
Police were called to a home around 5 p.m. after the man was found in the pool and was unresponsive. EMS continued to try to revive the man, but he was pronounced dead after being taken to hospital.
Police say he was at a social gathering and it appears the man, who was not a strong swimmer, had inadvertently waded into the deep end of the pool and slipped under the water unnoticed.
The Criminal Investigation Branch attended the scene of the drowning to investigate, but no foul play is suspected.
