A 48-year-old man facing a second degree murder charge made his first court appearance Friday.
OPP say Stephen Douglas Gautreau of Chatham was arrested on Thursday in connection with the death of Robert St. Denis.
Police were called to a rural home on Westminster Drive in Thames Centre the morning of June 25 where they found the body of St. Denis.
The death was deemed a homicide following a post mortem on the 51-year-old, and OPP remained at the scene for several days.
It seems Gautreau is no stranger to the justice system.
In 2010, he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit robbery with an imitation firearm in connection with a Dec. 2006 robbery at a Kitchener Scotiabank branch.
He was sentenced to time served in 2012.
Police have not said if Gautreau knew St. Denis.
At his court appearance on Friday, Gautreau was remanded in custody pending his next court appearance on July 24.
