Numerous runners from Ontario were among the nearly 36,000 who ran in the Boston Marathon Monday -- a year after a twin bombing near the finish line.

The two bombs turned the famous marathon into a scene of carnage, killing three people and wounding more than 260.

But this morning, runners took to the course determined to overcome the traumatic memories of last year's race.

Thirty-year-old Lanni Marchant of London, Ontario was the top Canadian finisher -- taking 14th place in the women's race.
