With more than 17 per cent of Londoners living on a low income, Mayor Matt Brown announced Wednesday that he's formed an advisory panel on poverty.

London's poverty numbers are above the provincial average and brown says more needs to be done to combat the issue.

The panel's aim is to address gaps that require significant action and better coordinate efforts to help Londoners out of poverty.

The panel will meet from now until March and present a report at that time.

Panel members include London food bank director Glen Pearson, United Way CEO Andrew Lockie and medical officer of health Christopher Mackie.
