Two males have been charged after OPP stopped to check an abandoned vehicle sitting beside a corn field in South-West Oxford Township.
On Monday, while investigating the vehicle, police say two males were arrested while exiting the field with two bags full of marijuana plants.
They have each been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and production of marijuana.
They were held for a bail hearing and are scheduled to appear in a Woodstock court.
Police say their names are not being released until further investigation is complete.
OPP are reminding people that illegal marijuana crops are typically harvested from early August until the beginning of October.
The crops can be found in swamps, corn fields, wooded areas, along rivers and on rural rental properties with large acreage.
If you discover a crop, police warn people to be very cautious and contact police at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS as soon as possible.
