A London man has been sentenced for his role in the shooting death of Josue Silva.

Silva was fatally shot at a south London bush party in July 2021.

Dylan Schaap, 23, has pleaded guilty to manslaughter and assault with a weapon in connection with that incident.

He's been sentenced to 10 years for manslaughter and a concurrent 2-year sentence for the assault.

He has about four and a half years left with credit for time already served.

Schaap and another man attended the bush party after a friend contacted them, saying she wanted to confront another group at the gathering.

The gun was fired by Schaap's friend, but the court found he knew the gun was present.

Schaap used the butt end of a machete to strike another man, resulting in the assault charge.

Schaap was also handed a lifetime weapons ban.
