Turnout wasn't overwhelming as the Western Fair, along with North American Midway Entertainment, looked for workers to help stage the annual 10-day event in September.

Organizers were looking to fill about 300-350 positions at a job fair held Thursday at the Agriplex in the Western Fair District.

And while there was still a lineup of applicants, those waiting to submit their applications said the numbers did seem to be down.

Job hopeful Penny Moore was in line by 7 a.m. and says, "The last time I was here two years ago, by eight o'clock it was all the way down by the sign, but [this year] people didn't start showing up until 8:30."

Midway Entertainment is filling positions such as ticket sellers, ride attendants, game operators and food attendants, while the Western Fair is hiring for security, ticket sellers and scanners, and grounds and building cleaners.

This year's fair will be held September 11th through to the 20th.
