An investigation by Elgin County OPP and the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office has found a fire that destroyed a house in Rodney is suspicious.

The fire early Sunday morning caused an estimated $200,000 damage to a home on Harper Street.

Neighbours called in emergency crews around 5 a.m. after noticing smoke coming from the home.

The rental property had been vacant for several weeks prior to the fire and no one was injured.

Police say they are continuing to investigate the incident as a case of arson.
