The garage of a home in London's Byron neighbourhood suffered significant damage after a fire on Thursday morning.

Fire crews were called to 174 Whisperwood Avenue just after 9:15 a.m. for a car fire.

Officials say a resident of the house started a car in the garage and the blaze started underneath the vehicle before quickly spreading.

Fortunately no on was injured.

Damage to the attached garage is pegged at between $50,000 and $70,000.
