Perth County OPP say an eight-year-old boy has suffered 'life-altering injuries' after becoming caught in a corn harvester.
Police and emergency responders were called to a farm on Line 12, north of St. Marys, around 5 p.m. Friday for a 'farm mishap.'
Officials say a tractor with an attached corn harvester and towing a wagon was being used to harvest corn for silage when the incident happened.
The 66-year-old operator reportedly noticed the front harvester head had stopped operating and, looking out the tractor's back window, saw a young boy had become caught and immediately shut down the tractor, releasing the boy.
The eight-year-old was transported by ambulance to a London hospital where he was treated.
The Ontario Ministry of Labour has been called in to investigate.
Perth County OPP are reminding those on farms to be cautious around equipment as it can be large, noisy and have many moving parts that can cause serious injury.
