Charges have been laid as two people remain in critical condition following a crash south of Stratford on Sunday that sent 10 people to hospital, including six children.
Perth Road 113 – better known as Embro Road – was closed for hours following the two-vehicle head-on crash Sunday afternoon shortly after 5 p.m.
Police believe a southbound Pontiac Grand Am crossed the centre line, colliding head on with a full-sized Chevrolet van.
The driver of the Grand Am, 42-year-old Tammy-Lynn Dingman of the Mitchell area, is now facing three charges including:
- breath sample not provided upon demand
- impaired driving causing bodliy harm
- dangerous operation causing bodily harm
Her driver's licence was also suspended for 90 days and she is scheduled to appear in court in Stratford on Sept. 8.
The van was carrying a Mitchell-area family that included two adults and five children. The adult passenger was airlifted to a London hospital with critical injuries.
The Grand Am was carrying two adults and one child. That child was also airlifted to a London hospital with critical injuries.
The remaining eight people were taken to local hospitals for treatment and some of those injured had to be transferred to London by land ambulance Sunday night for further treatment.
The Sebringville Fire Department sent 13 firefighters and four apparatus to the scene of the crash while ambulances came from both Perth and Oxford County to transport the injured to hospital.
