Grey County OPP say a body has been recovered after a fire in Meaford early Thursday that destroyed a farmhouse.
The body was pulled from the home on Sideroad 6 around 9:45 a.m. Friday.
Officials cannot confirm the identity of body at this time, but police have been unable to contact the elderly female resident of the home since the fire.
A post mortem examination is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday in Toronto.
Investigators have also recovered five cats and two dogs that perished in the fire.
Sideroad 6 has reopened, but the investigation in to the fire continues.
