Huron OPP and the province's Special Investigations Unit are investigating a single motor vehicle collision early Sunday morning.

Around 5:00 a.m., a Huron County OPP officer observed a pickup truck traveling westbound on MacDonald Road in an erratic manner.

Police say the officer tried to stop the pickup truck, however the driver refused to do so.

A short time later, the officer located the pickup truck overturned on its roof in the ditch at the intersection of MacDonald Road and Shipka Line.

The driver had to be pulled from the vehicle.

The 71 year old male driver from Bluewater was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The province’s Special Investigations Unit has invoked its mandate and is now looking into the crash.

The intersection of MacDonald Road & Shipka Line is closed due to the investigation.
