CAMBRIDGE, Ont. -- An aerospace manufacturing company is opening a new facility in Cambridge, Ont., to fulfill a major Boeing contract.
Heroux-Devtek Inc., which specializes in manufacturing landing gear, says the facility will help the company deliver complete landing gear systems for Boeing's B-777 and B-777X aircraft in 2017.
The new facility is in the pre-production phase and is expected to be fully operational in June 2015, creating 40 jobs.
The company says the total investment is about $54 million over five years, including a $7-million investment from the Ontario government.
Ontario Economic Development Minister Brad Duguid says it demonstrates "how targeted, strategic investments can strengthen key Ontario industries."
The provincial government says aerospace is a key component of Ontario's advanced manufacturing sector, employing 17,000 people.
