Premier Kathleen Wynne is putting the focus on public transportation in her campaign for re-election.
She spoke at a site in Toronto where construction is underway for a light rail line that's being funded by her government.
Wynne says public ownership is important to her and is denying NDP Leader Andrea Horwath's assertion that her government wants to privatize Toronto public transit.
But the New Democrats and a union say a 30-year maintenance contract has been awarded to a private company.
Meanwhile Horwath says her party would be sensitive to both business and workers if the minimum wage was raised in Ontario.
She says her party is committed to gradually raising the minimum wage to $12 an hour over two years.
But she says employers would also see cuts to the small business tax.
The Liberal government announced earlier this year that the minimum wage would increase from $10.25 an hour to 11 dollars on June 1st, with legislation promised to index future increases to inflation.
Tories defend Ontario election ads featuring Russian stock footage
Ontario's Progressive Conservatives are defending the use of footage from Russia in one of their campaign television ads.
They say it's just how advertising works in the 21st century.
Part of the TV spot -- called "Ontario Working Better" -- shows Tory Leader Tim Hudak touting his one-million jobs plan over video of office workers at a computer screen.
Another shot shows teens reading in a classroom.
The Ottawa Citizen says the images are both from Russia and sourced from a stock footage agency.
The Conservatives accuse the Liberals of playing "gotcha" politics by planting the story.
