Joshua-Jack More, 24, of London has been charged with second-degree murder following a police investigation into a suspicious death at 580 Dundas Street.
The death occurred at an apartment building right across from police headquarters, which is run by London-Middlesex housing.
Two people were arrested in relation to the investigation. One person has since been released while More has been charged and remains custody.
Police say they were in the building on another call around 3:24 p.m. on Thursday, when they were alerted to the incident.
Officers found a man in a sixth-floor apartment in medical distress. He was transported to the London Health Sciences Centre where he was later pronounced dead.
The post-mortem examination began Friday and police now say the man was stabbed. He has been identified as 54-year-old Allin Jefferey Sutherland.
Steve Matthew operates the building and says “Around three o'clock we were alerted that there was a violent event on the sixth floor and that one person was removed and taken to the hospital and pronounced dead at the hospital,” says Matthew.
Stephanie Crafts, who lives in the building, says she knew the man in the sixth-floor apartment.
“He’s an older gentleman, really nice. First day I moved in he came down and introduced [himself to] me, asked me if I needed anything,” says Craft.
This is the second suspicious death investigation in a 72-hour span.
Police are also investigating after a body was found in a ‘suspicious’ house fire in the city’s east end on Monday at 361 Manitoba Street.
In that case, Shane Wood, 37, has been charged with break and enter and arson. Fifty-year-old Paul Curry died in the blaze.
Anyone with information in relation to the investigations can contact the London Police Service at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
