London police say a dead body was found after a ‘suspicious’ house fire in the city’s east end.

The fire took place about 3:30 a.m. on Monday at 361 Manitoba St. 

Police say the investigation is now being treated as a homicide.  A male resident of London has been arrested in relation to the death of the person located within the home.  Charges have not yet been laid.

Officers say they believe that the suspect and the victim are known to each other.  A post mortem is scheduled for Tuesday morning.

A 911 call was received Monday morning regarding smoke and fire.  When police got there, the residence was engulfed in flames. The London Fire Department attended to put out the blaze.

Police say a body was discovered inside the residence.  The coroner and the Ontario Fire Marshall have been notified.  The deceased as not yet been positively identified.  

Damage to the home is estimated at $100,000.
