Midwestern Ontario to receive 10 to 40 cm of snow on Friday

Environment Canada has issued a snow squall warning and watch for much of midwestern Ontario this evening. Lake effect snow is projected to hit the area Friday morning, continuing into Friday night.
This evening, the thing to watch out for is blowing snow, as heavy winds will be reducing visibility on roads.
Some areas could see more lake effect snow through the weekend, with snowfall expected to roll in on Friday morning, continuing into Friday evening.
Environment Canada advises to postpone non-essential travel until the conditions improve. Visibility will be reduced at times to near zero, and accumulations of snow will make travel difficult.
The following areas are currently under a snow squall warning:
- Grey County
- Bruce County
- northern Huron County
- northern Perth County
Residents should expect heavy snowfall up to 40 centimetres of snow accumulation by Friday evening in southern parts of the affected region, and as much as 60 centimeteres in the northernmost parts of the affected region, accompanied by poor visibility and blowing snow.

Additionally, a snowsquall watch has been issued for areas to the south. These areas will see heavy snowfall in excess of 15 centimetres, expected to begin Friday morning.
- London, Parkhill and eastern Middlesex County
- Stratford, Mitchell, southern Perth County
- Goderich, Bluewater, southern Huron County
Drivers are asked to drive according to the conditions and leave lots of time to get to destinations.
