An investigation continues after a 51-year-old man was killed while cutting logs on a land southwest of Port Elgin, Ont.
Saugeen Shores police, fire and EMS were called to a bush property between Concession 2 and Bruce Saugeen Townline, west of Highway 21 around 3:45 p.m. Thursday.
Officials say two men were cutting logs in the bush, one operating a chainsaw and the other a log skidder.
As they attempted to skid out the logs, police say one of the logs knocked over a three-metre tall dead tree stump, which struck the man using the chainsaw.
He was treated by EMS, but was pronounced dead at the scene.
He has been identified as 51-year-old Mark Fritz of Clifford, Ont.
A post mortem is scheduled for Friday.
The Saugeen Shores Police Service, Coroner’s Office and Ministry of Labour are continuing their investigation into the accident.
