A Cambridge man is facing numerous charges after allegedly travelling through Bayfield at a high rate of speed.
Police say it happened around 4 a.m. on Wednesday.
An officer spotted a Ford Super Duty truck in the village and clocked it at in excess of 145 kilometres an hour in a 60 kilometre zone.
Police say the truck was pulling a trailer loaded with golf carts.
They say the officer began to follow after the vehicle and watched as the driver continued to drive in the oncoming lane for several kilometers.
The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, however the driver continued northbound toward Goderich.
Two other police vehicles were utilized and the driver finally pulled over just before he entered Goderich, police say.
The 27-year-old driver from Cambridge was placed under arrest for dangerous driving. He has been charged with impaired driving, driving motor vehicle over 80 milligrams of alcohol, dangerous driving and performing stunt, speeding by 50 kilometres or more.
