Boris Panovski, who has been charged in connection with the shooting death of Don Frigo near Clinton, Ont., has been remanded in custody.
He appeared in a Goderich court on Monday afternoon and smiled at local media - asking how he looked - as he arrived at the courthouse.
CTV's Scott Miller says Panovski seemed disoriented and there appeared to be a language barrier for the Macedonia native.
OPP say the 70-year-old Scarborough man - who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant - was arrested on Sunday at Toronto's Pearson International Airport.
Officials say he was taken into custody without incident as he re-entered Canada. They did not say where he was arriving from.
Panovski has been charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder in connection with the incident north of Clinton, Ont.
Donato Frigo and his wife were shot while training their hunting dogs near the Hullet Wildlife Conservation Area on Sept. 13.
Frigo, 70, died of his injuries. His wife, Eva, was wounded but managed to escape.
A funeral for Frigo was held north of Toronto on Monday morning.
Panovski is scheduled to appear in court again via video on Oct. 6.
