The federal government announced $2.26 million in funding Friday for upgrades to infrastructure in the London region.
The announcement made in London is part of Canada’s 150th anniversary celebrations, with the government saying it's time to celebrate the places across the country that unite and connect people in their communities.
In London, the funding will be used to improve the outdoor rink at the Covent Garden Market, add a splash part at Queen's Park, upgrade Constitution Park and expand the Kiwanis Park path system, which will cost $590,000.
Outside the city, the expansion and improvement of Talbotville Park and improvement of Ilderton’s rail trail were also announced.
“The Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program will preserve and improve our community infrastructure, so that Canadians and their families can enjoy moments of culture, sport, recreation and leisure for years to come. I am proud to see all the communities benefiting from this program,” said London North Centre MP Peter Fragiskatos.
