“My grief is overwhelming at times,” says Danah MacKinnon-Bozek, mother of Addison Hall who died in the Costco crash in July 2014.
MacKinnon-Bozek was speaking at the Transplant Trot in Gibbons Park, a five kilometer charity walk to support the Canadian Transplant Association.
She revealed that Addison’s organs went to help save the lives of four people, including two children.
“…knowing that addison's life lives on in another provides me with an inner peace that she died with a purpose. and it makes losing her a little easier to cope with,” said Addison’s mother when speaking with CTV News.
The event is in honour of Leslie Petter, an organ recipient and support of the cause, who passed away in 2011.
MacKinnon-Bozek said that a terrible loss becomes a gift. She revealed that Addison’s heart went to a young girl, while her liver and bowels went to a young boy. Two adults received her Kidneys.
Organizers of the Transplant Trot were hoping to raise $10,000 at today’s event.
