There were no injuries, but a century-old building in Walkerton has been destroyed by fire.
Rob’s Sports Bar, which has been part of Walkerton for more than 30 years, was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived on the scene.
Walkerton, Paisley, Mildmay, Elmwood and Kincardine fire departments were called to fight the blaze in the building on Scott Street.
Officials say there were people in the bar and upstairs in apartments, but everyone got out safely.
Residents said they could see thick, black smoke from as far away as Chesley, which is 25 kilometres out.
South Bruce OPP is investigating the cause of the fire with assistance from the Fire Marshall’s Office and the OPP crime unit.
