An early morning fire has destroyed a barn south of Straffordville, Ont.

Elgin County OPP and Bayham Fire Services were called to the scene on Calton Line (County Road 45) around 6:40 a.m.

About 19 sheep and the family's dog were killed in the fire, but no one else was injured.

It took fire crews until late in the morning to contain the fire and Calton Line was closed until around 9:30 a.m.

Heat lamps being used in the barn are believed to have caused the blaze, which is not considered suspicious.

Damage is estimated at about $130,000.
