Lambton County OPP are investigating after a fatal collision involving a CP Rail freight train and a stake truck northwest of Bothwell, Ont.
Police say an older man who was driving the truck was killed in the crash that happened around 12:40 p.m. Monday.
The stake truck was reportedly carrying corn when it was struck by the westbound freight train at the rural crossing, which is marked by signs but no lighted signals.
The truck driver was transported to hospital by ambulance but succumbed to his injuries, police say.
The name of the deceased has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
Cairo Road was expected to remain closed near Euphemia Line for several hours. Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
The investigation continues.
