The man killed in a crash on Napperton Drive has been identified as 45-year-old Leonard Darryl Westgate of Adelaide Metcalfe.
Westgate died at the scene after being struck by a westbound car on Thursday afternoon that left the roadway and continued west on private property before hitting a tree and flipping on its side.
The driver, Mason Neufeld, 34, of Strathroy-Caradoc, was treated for non-life threatening injuries in hospital before being released.
Neufeld has subsequently been charged with:
- impaired operation/care or control of a motor vehicle causing death
- criminal negligence causing death
- exceed 80 milligrams blood alcohol content in motor vehicle causing an accident with a fatality
- driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
The accused was being held in custody pending an appearance in a London court on Friday.
Napperton Drive was closed from School Road to Seed Road for the OPP investigation until about 9 p.m. Thursday.
