A head-on collision Friday in Perth County has injured seven people.

OPP say the crash happened about 5:30 p.m. on Highway 23, north of Line 24 near Mitchell.

Police say a Chevy Equinox travelling south on the highway collided with a Dodge Caravan. Three people in the Equinox, as well as the four occupants of the Caravan were taken to hospital.

One of the Equinox passengers, an adult male, was transported from the scene by air ambulance to a London hospital with major injuries. An infant was also later taken by air ambulance to a London hospital. A toddler was also transferred to London.

The adult male driver of the Equinox and another adult male passenger were transported to a local hospital by land ambulance with minor injuries.

The four occupants of the Caravan, all residents of London, were transported to local hospitals by land ambulance. 

The adult male driver and the adult female passenger sustained minor injuries.  

The highway was closed for several hours.
