The beginning of the summer season saw the Middlesex-London Health Unit issue the first heat alert of 2013, which comes into effect on Sunday.
There hasn’t been much to beach season so far, but the heat predicted for this weekend could change that.
The health unit’s alert comes into effect Sunday and continues until Tuesday, with humidex values in the low 40s expected.
Iqbal Kalsi, manager of environmental health, said in a statement “We have officially entered the summer season. The Heat Alert is our way of reminding people in the community to take it easy this weekend.”
Kalsi is reminding people to stay hydrated, keep cool and avoid strenuous outdoor activities during the heat alert.
