A fire at a pig barn north of Auburn, Ont. has killed an estimated 30 pigs and caused $100,000 in damage.
Four fire departments responded to the fire on Hawkins Road between Prosperity Line and St. Augustine Line before 9 a.m. Friday.
The road was closed for several hours as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze, but it has since re-opened.
The owners initially feared many more pigs might die, but fortunately only 30 pigs were killed as the fire was contained to one room in the barn.
The fire appears to have been started by a build up of methane gas.
Huron OPP say the fire remains under investigation but is not believed to be suspicious.
No people were injured in the fire.
